Modeling the imperatives of industry 5.0 towards resilient supply chains: Post-COVID-19 pandemic perspective

Abstract— The surge of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the global market a lot of the emerging economies by disrupting manufacturing activities. To sustain in the ongoing and post-COVID world, it is crucial to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in traditional manufacturing activities. The fifth industrial revolution, simply Industry 5.0 (I5.0) offers the overwhelming potential to build an inclusive digital future by ensuring resiliency. This research aims to identify, assess and prioritize the I5.0 based AI technologies to tackle the supply chain (SC) disruption risks and establish a resilient SC. To fulfill the objective, an integrated approach including Pareto analysis, Bayesian, and the Best-Worst Method (BWM) was developed. Based on literature and experts’ opinions, a total of 9 AI technologies was identified and analyzed by Bayesian-BWM to determine the most crucial one. Findings found the real-time tracking of SC activities using IoT as the most important technology to improve the quality of modern SC. The research insights will assist industry leaders, practitioners, and relevant stakeholders in dealing with the post-COVID world.
